Hi there, I'm Shray. I currently live in London, UK and work at Quantinuum. I grew up in Antwerp, Belgium but spent some time in the US as a student at the University of Michigan.

Email: shray.jain@hotmail.com - send me a book recommendation. I'm constantly on the lookout for a new and interesting read.

Current activities:

  • Reading - I didn't proactively read much in high school, which is a shame. I've been making up for lost time over the past couple of years. Learning is a never-ending pursuit.

  • Running - I'm training for my first half-marathon in May 2023 around Battersea Park, one of my favorite parks in the city.

  • Boxing - Requires discipline, endurance, and resilience. Great workout too. I didn't realize the challenges of the sport until I put my gloves on.

  • Cycling - Pedaling away on a stationary bike might sound boring but huffing and puffing at speeds of 34+ km/hr is worth it; a reasonable exercise to optimize VO2 max.

  • Coffee and pastry hunting - If only this was a competitive sport! I take great pleasure in visiting cafés when time permits

  • Poker - Probabilities aside, the sport requires astuteness and risk-taking; two concepts which are broadly applicable in life. Though I'd categorize myself as an intermediate player, winning a sizable pot during my first competitive game has incentivized me to continue playing on a regular basis.

  • Writing - Maison Amateur and DeepTech VC

Current areas of interest:

  • Longevity: It's not about living longer. It's about living well for longer. Extending one's healthspan has become an obsession.

  • Entrepreneurship: I think about business ideation, formation, and scaling a lot.

  • Science & technology: The main growth engines of society.

  • Global politics and international affairs: Joined Chatham House to participate in universal discourse.

  • Triathlons: An amalgamation of two activities that I'm comfortable with and one not so much. I am of course referring to swimming, which I haven't done much of in recent history.

  • Machine intelligence and safety: If AI is the next paradigm shift, which it's turning out to be, we need to formally understand its possibilities from several perspectives.

  • Computing: The backbone of modern day society and its ever-growing needs.

  • Energy: Everything everywhere all at once. The movie's fabulous too.

  • Complex systems: Cities, civilizations, and the Internet are common examples. The universe is non-linear.
